Dr. Maurizio Aiello


Technologist, co-founder of React4life S.r.l.

In 1994 he obtained his MSc Degree in Physics from the University of Genoa, Italy. He worked in the field of molecular dynamics for Glaxo Wellcome Inc.

From 1998 to 2001 he was technical Officer for the University of Genoa (head of ICT infrastructure at the University of Genoa, Department of Physics), and contemporary freelance for primary companies, banks, institutions.

From 2001 he is technologist at CNR. His main scientific interests have included: a) nuclear physics; b) molecular dynamics; c) fluid dynamics; d) network security. In 2006 he has founded Cleis Security srl, a spin-off of CNR, and for seven years he covered the role of President and CEO.

From 2014 to 2020 Italian National Representative to the European Commission of the Horizon 2020 committee “Societal Challenge 7-Secure Societies”.

From 2018 Maurizio is CEO and member of the Scientific Committee of React4life srl, covering a business developer role. His activities in React4life concern the internationalization of the business and lobbying, as well as for the supervision of the part of automation and monitoring of experiments inside of the devices.

Eng. Silvia Scaglione

President and Chief Scientific Officer

Researcher, founder, and Chief Scientist of React4life.

In 2005 she received a PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Genoa, Italy. In 2004 she was a Visiting Scientist at the University Hospital of Basel, Switzerland.

Since 2010 Silvia Scaglione is a Permanent Researcher at the National Council of Research (CNR) and head of the Laboratory of Tissue Engineering CNR-IEIIT in Genoa, currently consisting of 1 post-Doc, 2 PhD-students, 2 master students, 1 technician and 1 senior research associate.

She is the author of more than 80 international peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, author of 7 patents.

She is responsible for some national and international research projects, and coordinator of a Future Emerging Technology (FET-OPEN) H2020 project entitled “Modeling spontaneous Breast cancer metastasis TO the Bone with a first-of-its-kind 3D device that recapitulates physiological tissue-level complexity -B2B”.

Recently she has been appointed EIC Ambassador by Jean David Malo, the Director of the European Innovation Council, as evidence of her ability to successfully carry out basic research while generating a tangible impact on society.

Eng. Giuseppe Poggi

Executive manager

Entrepeneur, co-founder of React4life s.r.l.

He has a MSc degree in Engineering at the University of Genoa, Italy.

His main scientific interests are informatics and business developpment. He is CEO and President of React4life since 2016. He is Ceo of a spinoff society called CleisSecurity and member of several board of directors and technology departments.

Currently, he is executive manager of React4life and mainly focused on exploitation activities, business development and internationalization of the activities.

Heiko Visarius

Medtech Expert

Dr. Heiko Visarius is an executive with international experience in the healthcare sector, especially in the area of medical device technology. A Ph.D. in engineering obtained in the USA and a Swiss/US MBA degree combined with his professional experience allow him to relate to a broad spectrum of business areas, such as sales, marketing, R&D, finance, supply chain and general management. He held various leadership positions with global players of the medical device industry (Synthes/J&J, Medtronic). He had P/L responsibility in Europe for a 3-digit million USD revenue volume in a direct operation and also has extensive experience in the Emerging Markets.

Luca Baroldi Torelli

Medical Doctor, Specialized in Cardiology

Born in Milan, on 08-March-1951

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery (1979) and specialized in Cardiology ( 1982 )

For over 35 years he held managerial positions and as Member of Board of Directors in well-known pharmaceutical companies. He began his managerial career in 1982 at Recordati S.p.A. as head of the International Medical Department, then in 1985 became Director of Licensing and International Affairs at Smith Kline Beecham Pharmaceuticals where he remained until 1993, becoming in 1989 Central Director “Worldwide Business Development” based in London, taking care of: Business Development, Corporate Development, Licensing in/out, Strategic Alliances with other Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Groups, M&A.

Between 1998 and 2003 he directed as General Coordinator two Private Policlinic Hospitals, contracted with the Italian National Health System: in Milan and Varese. Since 1994 to date, he is Advisor to Pharma and Biotech Companies, Scientific Foundations and Public and Private Authorities. Since 2000 to date, he runned as CEO and/or Chairman, Companies active in different fields ( for exemple ITC ).

Cristina Bottino

Cristina Bottino is working in Genova, Italy. She is a full professor at the University School of Medicine and Head of the Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Immunology at the G. Gaslini children hospital. Her research activity focuses on the analysis of the innate immune responses in humans in physiological and pathological conditions. In particular, she studies the Natural Killer (NK) cells analyzing their function against virus-infected cells and pediatric tumors (neuroblastoma, Wilms, leukemia), and in primary immunodeficiencies (XLP1, FHL). She is among the highly cited researchers (ISI, Philadelphia) (H-index 68) (ORCID iD: 0000-0001-6695-1739)
