The FISA call, from Italian Government, allocates EUR 50 million for 2022 and expected growth over time to reach EUR 250 million from 2025. It has the aim of promoting the competitiveness of the Italian production system through the enhancement of industrial research and experimental development.

Project proposal details:
Project proposals submitted by individual researchers (Principal investigators), belonging to the public or private sector of national research, in any field of science that show marked characteristics of originality and innovation and can foster socio-economic and industrial spillovers.
Projects must last from 2 to 5 years, cost between 1 and 5 million euros, and may include an industrial partner where the researcher should spend some time.
Proposals must be submitted using the forms on the dedicated portal https://fisa-submission.mur.gov.it

The deadline for submission of applications is 13 December 2022 at 12:00.

FISA Project can be hosted at React4life, an innovative biotech company awarded by the European Innovation Council.

Prof. Silvia Scaglione is the Research Director at React4life and she’s internationally recognised as an expert in organ-on-chip and 3D tissue models. Prof. Scaglione is part of the scientific committee of the Microphysiological System (MPS) society and a member of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (TERMIS).

Her translational research is reflected in several national (e.g. ITWIIN 2019, GammaDonna 2021, ANGI 2021) and international awards and honours, such as the appointment as EIC Ambassador for her capacity to bring basic research results to society, generating impact.
She has >100 peer-reviewed publications and 7 patents.

Alongside her scientific outputs, Prof. Scaglione disseminates her research achievements through TV, radio, socials, and printed media spreading scientific culture to the general public. Prof. Scaglione has extensive training experience (>30 master’s and PhD students), and she has vast experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary groups. Her focus is on creating an inclusive and innovative research environment. Prof. Scaglione has cultivated a range of academic collaborators and industrial links in Italy and Europe.
