Immunostaining is an antibody-based method that is used to detect specific proteins in a sample. It can be used for a variety of basic science applications such as investigating the presence or absence of a protein, its tissue distribution, its sub-cellular localization and changes in protein expression or degradation.

Fluorophore-conjugated antibodies are often employed to monitor the distribution of proteins and organelles within cultured cells in localization studies, using a fluorescence microscope to visualize the results.

The following protocol outlines the steps for an immunostaining assay to be performed on cellularized inserts cultured under fluid-dynamic conditions within the MIVO® device.
